I know this is a little outdated, but today I want to talk about possibly the best non-Broadway stage show I have ever seen! Last March, I was in Orlando, Florida to go to Disney, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld. The first park I visited was Disney’s Animal Kingdom. I was there mainly for Pandora and the Expedition Everest roller coaster. But one show I wanted to see was Finding Nemo: The Musical. I loved Finding Nemo and oddly enough, I liked Finding Dory even better. But Finding Nemo: The Musical focuses on, naturally, Finding Nemo. Unlike some other shows you find in other amusement parks, or even major theme parks, this show lasts a LONG TIME! How long, you ask? Try 45 minutes. For a non-Broadway show, to me, that is amazing. It’s not screens, either. It’s live actors with puppets. It sounds corny, I know. But believe you me, this is not your everyday puppet show. The actors were phenomenal! The sets were amazing, the acting was incredible, the songs were catchy…what else do you need? The only other show I would say is maybe slightly better is Fantasmic at Hollywood Studios. But that’s all classic Disney characters with lasers, smoke and fire effects, and water screens. But I am not here to talk about other shows. I’ll cover them in another post. But Disney does some awesome shows, and Finding Nemo the Musical is probably my favorite non-Broadway musical. I’d even go as far as to say it’s better than some Broadway musicals! *Cough* Cats *Cough*. I loved every second of this show! The puppets are very articulated. Like, their mouths move in sync with what the actors are saying and doing. If you want an example of how incredibly amazing this show is, look no further than the Just Keep Swimming sequence. Dory and Marlin are flying through the air, suspended by wires, doing backflips and singing simultaneously. It’s really impressive! The Crush and Mr. Ray puppets are not “just” puppets. They are about the size of a car and are actually on what look like a bicycle frame. If you are in the Orlando area, do yourself a favor. Go to Animal Kingdom and see this show! And if you are not in the position where you can go, look up the show on YouTube. Filming is allowed, so the show is on YouTube. Just check it out one way or another. For Finding Nemo the Musical’s score, it is getting a score it absolutely deserves: 10/10! I cannot think of any flaws with this show! Thanks for reading!
