This past Sunday, December 29, 2019, I saw indie band Rubblebucket at the Baltimore Soundstage in downtown Baltimore. The show wasn’t just them, though. A local band called Super City opened the show. I thought they were “ok”. They weren’t my favorite band I have seen. Up next was Guerilla Toss, a band from the Boston area. They were phenomenal! I LOVED them! I had heard some of their songs on YouTube but hearing them live is just on an entirely different level! Probably my favorite song they played was Jesus Rabbit. That’s a catchy song and I suggest you give it at least one listen. So now we have Rubblebucket on the stage. While Guerilla Toss was amazing, the energy Rubblebucket brought just blew everything else out of the water! Like, if you didn’t know what you are getting into beforehand, you’d probably be shocked. The lead singer and saxophone player, Kal Traver is just an amazing sax player and vocalist! Alex Toth, the trumpet player and singer, is equally incredible! During their probably most famous song, Came Out of A Lady, Kal and Alex actually jumped off the stage and played in the audience…with no security or barricades. Actually, Alex took it a step further. He got on the shoulders of a fan and rode around the crowd on the man’s shoulders. After they got back on the stage, Kal jumped off the stage and onto the audience to crowd surf. It was surreal! For the last song of the encore, the entire band played acoustic—no mics, no amps, no nothing—at the back of the Soundstage. It was probably the wildest show I have ever been to! After the show, Rubblebucket had a meet-and-greet. I got Kal’s autograph and a selfie with her. The members are super cool, down-to-Earth, and just an amazing group of musicians! I cannot recommend seeing them enough! Seriously, if Rubblebucket ever comes to your city/town…GO SEE THEM!!!!! You will not regret it! Thanks for reading!
