Next Thursday December 19, I am going to see STAR WARS: RISE OF SKYWALKER. I am excited for it sure, but I am also maybe a little conflicted. See, let me explain myself. I grew up with the original Star Wars saga: A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi. These are such iconic films. While I do think Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones were unnecessary and, quite frankly, shit (Revenge of the Sith was ok), I did actually like The Force Awakens and Last Jedi. Look, don’t get me wrong. I am super excited for Rise of Skywalker. But this is the franchise’s final film. I am excluding spin-offs like Solo for this post. I think the franchise is immortal. I am very much interested in seeing how they are going to end the series. Here’s the thing. Even if the franchise is “over” I’m not sure that’s entirely accurate. You know as damn well as I do that the films will continue to live on in cinema history. I have no doubt about that. I know my kids will watch the films with me like I did with my dad. And who knows? Maybe they’ll watch it with their kids. And so the films will go on from one generation to the next. So what do you think of Star Wars “ending”? Are you bummed or are you thinking “About time!”? Let me know in the comments and thanks for reading!
