I am going camping in the Poconos for close to a week. I am leaving on Sunday, August 4. I think it will be fun! I have never been to the Poconos and the itinerary looks really good! I am staying at a hotel in the Poconos, so it’s not technically “camping” but who cares? On Tuesday, weather permitting, I am heading to Dorney Park in Allentown, Pennsylvania. I have been there once before and remember having a really good time, so I am looking forward to going back again. The one thing I am looking forward to, probably more than anything if I am being completely honest, is the train ride. The train in the Poconos is supposedly one of the most scenic rides in the United States. I am a shutterbug, meaning I love taking photos, so I am really looking forward to seeing the nature and natural beauty of the Poconos without having to walk. I am hoping to Christ the weather holds out. I went camping last year around this time on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. It was torrential downpours all week long! Having said that, I still managed to have a really good time! I swear toy you, the camp I went to last year was kind of like one big karaoke session. The one song that made me a little homesick was Country Roads by John Denver. My mom, sister and I love that song so hearing it made me think of them. I was allowed to have a cell phone at camp, which is a good thing. I know I am taking it again this time around. Funnily enough, I didn’t miss my parents as much as I thought. I talked to them every day. The one thing I did miss most was my dog. I would call my parents and could hear Dixie panting in the background. Boy was she excited when I got home!
But back to the Poconos. I love camping…for the most part. I know what I am doing with staying in a hotel is “glamping” but it’s the same basic principle. I love the fact I get to get away from my family for a week, but still stay in contact with them. It gives me that sense of freedom or independence. I love seeing nature and what it has to offer, so I am really excited about this! I have back issues, so I am so glad to be staying in a bed, or at least a cot, as opposed to the ground or an air mattress. I know the night before I leave, I will not be able to sleep due to excitement. I love going on trips! That is probably my favorite thing to do, is just go and explore if given the chance. I have seen some unique and beautiful places, and adding the Poconos is something I cannot wait to do! I know I will take lots of pictures, and of course, I will update you on how the trip was when I get back. I do not know if there will be any WiFi service or computers available. So have you ever been on a trip? What is the most beautiful place you have ever seen or want to see? Thanks for reading!
