TRIFECTA FOOD TRUCK FESTIVAL

This past Saturday, (July 27, 2019) I went to the Trifecta Food Truck Festival. The festival was held at the Infield of the Timonium Fairgrounds. I ate one thing while I was at the festival, which I admit is pretty sad seeing as the festival focuses primarily on food. I was there for the bands. The bands this year were nothing short of amazing! My personal favorite band there was Several Species. They are a Baltimore-based Pink Floyd cover group. I have seen them a bunch of times and every time, they blow me away with how good they are! But they closed the festival. Before them, I saw Crushing Day, which is a Baltimore band that plays all rock music from the 80s-today. They were the first band I saw and I gotta say, I was really impressed. Apart from Several Species, they were my other favorite band that day! Kanye Twitty was there. Kanye Twitty played various genres of music. They were good, but I actually left their set early to get a beer. It was so incredibly hot that day!
Around 4pm, I met up with my Aunt. She is as into music as I am, so it’s always fun going to shows with her. The one downside about Trifecta was that it was out in the open, with ZERO shade! Now they did have tents with benches set up, but they were all occupied all day. So that means I was on my feet all day from 1:30pm-11:15 pm. I saw two bands (sort of) with my Aunt. We saw Jah Works, which is a Bob Marley tribute band and we saw Pettycoat Junction, which is a Tom Petty tribute band. Truth be told, I only saw part of their sets because I was absolutely dying from the heat and I was desperately looking for shade. Kelly Bell Band was there, but I missed their set.
So as I mentioned, Several Species came on at around 8:45pm and played until the festival closed at 11pm. They played the Dark Side of the Moon album in its entirety to start the show. Way to start the show with a bang! Of course, they also played a set from The Wall. But the highlight of every Several Species show is Arnold the Pig. Arnold is this humungous inflatable pig that flies over the audience and has red lights for eyes. He came on, obviously, during the song Pigs (Three Different Ones) from the Animals album. The encore was three songs. They played Wish You Were Here, Comfortably Numb, and Run Like Hell as the encore. I have written a review before about Several Species and their semi-new singer, Tim. I will say, he has gotten a lot better since the first time I saw him with Several Species. At Trifecta, he was more animated and only occasionally looked at the prompter. The old singer for the band, Marc, knew all the words to every song note for note, knew every motion and just knew how to work a crowd. Tim is improving, but I still do prefer Marc.
Anyway, to wrap things up, I had an AWESOME time at Trifecta Food Truck Festival. This was my second year going, and I hope they continue to hold it for years to come! Despite the heat and humidity, I still managed to have a good time! I know I will keep coming back to Trifecta as long as the bands as are good as they have been in the past! So that’s my take of Trifecta 2019. Let me know if you were there and what you thought. Or if you weren’t there, feel free to comment anyway! Thanks for reading!
