I am usually not one to judge. Today is no exception. I will be discussing some sensitive topics here, so if you get uncomfortable easily, now would be a good time to stop reading. Me personally? I am an intactivist, meaning against circumcision. Why? “It’s normal, Tom!” BULLSHIT! I do not think it is. If it were, men would come out of their moms pre-mutilated. I get that it is a religious thing in some cultures. I do, believe me. I am not bashing other beliefs. These are simply my own. Why am I against it? Due to my heart issues when I was born, the doctors thought it’d be too much for me to take if they did it at birth. So throughout most of my adolescent and teen years, I was uncut. I only got it done out of basically peer pressure and fear of never being able to get a girlfriend if I stayed that way.So I opted to get circumcised when I was 17. Feeling the pain and having
something irreversible done to my body—I think it is—for a dumb reason was the
stupidest choice I ever made. I wouldn’t wish that pain on anyone. Ultimately, I
think it’s your body and your choice, not the parents’. Another personal choice that
people take issue with is body hair, particularly on women. Again, it’s a sensitive
subject and I know everyone has their own opinions and they are entitled to them.
Here’s my opinion. Growing up, I thought it was gross and unnatural for women to
not shave anything. My ex shaved. All my female friends did. It seemed like the
norm to me. Now I see things differently. A few people I know—not all from
experiences—do not shave. Keep in mind, I have only seen their armpits and some
parts of their legs for the most part. To me, now, pubic hair on women is not an
issue. Some find it disgusting, I know. But again…personal opinions. Ladies, if
you want to go natural, go for it! Bush can be beautiful…unless you’re Miley
Cyrus and dye it bright pink. Then it’s nasty. But the two things I discussed today
are hot topics among people, particularly parents raising sons. But I want to hear
from you. What is your stance on these issues? Thanks for reading!
