GIN BLOSSOMS REVIEW

So last night, on Friday February 8, 2019, I saw the Gin Blossoms at the Baltimore Soundstage. And let me just say…WOW! What a show! They played their most famous album, NEW MISERABLE EXPERIENCE, in its entirety! This is the album with most of their most well-known songs like Mrs. Rita, Hey Jealousy, Heard About You, and Allison Road. The only song everyone knows that is missing from that album is Follow You Down. Not to worry, though. They played that, too…as an encore, of course. There was SO much audience participation! Let me elaborate. First off, there was no barricade between the band and the audience. Like, none whatsoever. There was nothing keeping me or anyone else from jumping on the stage…minus minimal security and common sense. The lead singer, Robin Wilson, handed me a tambourine to play during Heard About You. What an honor! Actually, at the end of the night, after the sold-out crowd had thinned out, Robin was helping clean up equipment and stopped to talk to people, take photos, and sign autographs. He handed me a setlist…the only souvenir at the concert I could afford…and he signed it. Gin Blossoms were kind of part of my 90s childhood and teen years, and then they kind of went to the back of my mind…until I heard them on Sirius XM and saw that they were coming to my hometown. I was kind of worried about my ticket, truth be told. Here’s why: one, all the regular priced tickets ($35 with fees) were gone, so I got a “Verified resale” ticket on Ticketmaster. So even though I bought my ticket through a legit website, I was still sorta, kinda hesitant because it was a “resale” ticket. I spent $50 after all was said and done, and I was worried it might be a fraudulent ticket. Thankfully, it wasn’t. And the second reason: it wasn’t a physical ticket. It was on my mom’s phone, since that’s the email that is registered with Ticketmaster. So my mom texted me the ticket and I was worried that because it was just a text, it wouldn’t scan. No worries, though. The ticket was legit AND it scanned just fine! Just to prove I met Robin Wilson, I attached a photo of him and me. Again, it was a great show and if you can get tickets to see Gin Blossoms on their NEW MISERABLE EXPERIENCE 25th anniversary tour, I HIGHLY recommend it! You will not be disappointed! Even if you don’t know all the songs, the band is still a lot of fun! So that’s it from me. Let me know your thoughts on Gin Blossoms or concerts you have been to in general. Thanks!
