There is this bullshit hysteria about vaccines causing Autism. On humans it sounds crazy…AND IT HAS BEEN DEBUNKED! Now to make things even crazier…there is this belief that pets can actually get Autism thru their vaccines. WHAT THE HELL?! Look…you believe what you want to, but to me, this sounds absolutely INSANE! Dogs cannot get Autism! But they can die. Like humans, if pets–cats and dogs in particular–do not get vaccinated, they develop a weaker immune system and can die from it.
Vaccines hurt like Hell, sure, but they ultimately do more good than harm. There is a sucker born every minute. And it kinda pisses me off when people have that, “Well I’d rather my son/daughter/sister/brother/etc. dead and unprotected than have mental issues”…YOU’RE the one with the fucking mental issue.
See, people on the Spectrum–at least me–live everyday lives from day-to-day trying to blend in. And if you fuck it up by saying “What is wrong with you?!” and mean our disability…that’s on you, NOT US! To me, having a shitty attitude about Autism or any other disability is almost inhuman. Like, how can you think that? We are human beings!
So can dogs “catch” Autism? A misconception among us humans, too. In a word: NO! Autism is not contagious…but stupidity is. If people start believing the hype and hysteria about Autism being a disease you can catch…we’re fucked. Because if that happens, who knows? Autistic people might be quarantined and that will just play into the myth that people on the Spectrum are antisocial. I am as social as they come.
As an animal lover…dogs in particular…I implore you. PLEASE…PLEASE do not believe the bullshit hype about your pet getting Autism from rabies shots and other vaccines. It is simply not true. Treat your animals fairly. If you don’t wanna vaccinate, fine. I am not here to tell you how to raise your dogs or kids. I am merely telling you my side of it.
Animals deserve good lives, too. My dog, Dixie, may not be the smartest dog in the world (She is 10 and is still trying to figure out “fetch”). But she isn’t dumb and she sure as Hell is not Autistic. Dixie is her own funny self. Same as any other animal or person. I love my dog and would not change her or “cure” her for the world. She’s a great dog, so why would I? I feel people with Autism are the same. Most are great people and awesome friends/family members/employees/whatever else you can think of. So why change that?
Peace out and feel free to comment!
