I read a horrifying news article the other day about a woman in Ireland and her kids. Oh don’t worry…the woman didn’t do a thing to her kids. She and her kids are just trying to live a “normal” everyday life. Apparently, Fiona O’Leary, who is an Autism rights campaigner and a mother of 5, has two sons who are Autistic. The son’s ages are 25 and 13. Here’s the horrifying part. Fiona received a phone call by an unnamed man who told Fiona that “you and your Autistic kids will get their heads bashed in…I’m going to bash the Autism out of them.” The article says that Mrs. O’Leary founded an Autism rights group called Autistics Rights Together and “has been highlighting therapies that are falsely sold as treatment for Autism” A woman after my own heart…
Fiona also alleges that the staff at, I guess their local, Church of Scientology in Dublin offered her a detoxification program that they said would “cure” her Autistic children. The Church’s offer was for €1500, or $1,834.30 in American currency. Mrs. O’Leary says she was at a Petrol station with her husband and five kids in the car when she got a call from a private number. She “had to put it on speaker phone so my husband could record it. All my children heard it. It was horrific.”
As if that wasn’t bad enough, Fiona also adds that she is afraid to stay home by herself and that more intimidating calls have been made. Who the Hell does this shit nowadays?! First off, it’s illegal to make calls like this. And also…if you are against Autistic people, that’s fine. But DO NOT push your idiotic beliefs on other people who are just trying to live their lives peacefully. I do not care if you are the most despicable, vile, ignorant, racist fucking piece of shit on the planet as long as you do not bother me or anyone else with your bullshit. That is where I draw the line. What I am about to say may piss people off, but this is my blog and therefor, my opinion and I am entitled to my opinion, as you are entitled to yours. There will always be that one person or one group of people that have the mindset of “I hate blacks/Jews/retards/Mexicans/gays/etc.” and that is ok…kind of. You can think it all you want, but DO NOT act on it. That is when issues start coming up. Want an example? Look at Hitler in World War II. He hated anyone who was Jewish or going against his idea of “perfection”. All Hell broke loose. If you wanna go deeper and more recent, look at 9/11. Sorry to bring up old wounds but hear me out. bin Laden and the terrorists hated Americans for some reason and unleashed the worst tragedy ever seen in US history on our soil. This, of course, led to war in the Middle East and, sadly, a misconception about Muslims that is simply not true.
Everyone is entitled to their thoughts and opinions. But just remember:: Just because you think your opinion matters…doesn’t mean everyone else shares those ideals. I have biases myself but I do not share them with anyone except for those I know respect my opinions and can have an educated discussion about the topic. Other people who are so stuck in their ways and thoughts…sorry but you are not worth my time. I am just tired of thinking that everyone and their mother wants to hear everyone else’s opinions on things that are trivial or do not matter. They don’t. Not everybody wants to hear about how “All Muslims are terrorists” or “All people with a disability need to be institutionalized”. As always, feel free to write in and share your thoughts and opinions with me. Later!
